Welcome!
If you want to go to bed smarter than when you woke up, you’ve come to the right place.
Farnam Street (FS) focuses on timeless lessons and insights for work and life. We do this by “mastering the best of what other people have already figured out.” After all, it’s much easier to benefit from lessons that others have already paid the price for than making all the mistakes yourself.
You won’t find fads, hacks, or strategies that don’t work. Instead, you’ll find timeless ideas and insights you can put to use.
Let’s take a look around.
Where to Start …

Why the Name Farnam Street
Early inspiration for Farnam Street originated from the ideas of billionaire investor Warren Buffett and his business partner Charlie Munger. Both write and speak extensively about mental models and interdisciplinary thinking. Our name pays tribute to the pair; the address of their business, Berkshire Hathaway, is 3555 Farnam Street. We now refer to it as FS for short.
